WINFIELD, IL — The History of Winfield Committee, the Winfield Historical Society, and the Winfield Public Library Board of Trustees proudly invite the greater Winfield community to celebrate a major milestone in preserving local heritage. An open house event will mark the official release of the highly anticipated second edition of Winfield’s Good Old Days: A History.

Originally published in 1978, this definitive chronicle of the village has been extensively updated following three years of dedicated research and collaboration. The book project began in 2023 as a joint initiative between the Winfield Public Library and the Winfield Historical Society as part of the Village of Winfield’s celebration honoring America’s official 250th semiquincentennial birthday.

The Book Launch Open House will take place on Saturday, December 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The festivities will be held in the lower-level meeting room of the Winfield Public Library, located at 0S291 Winfield Road, coinciding with the library’s Annual Open House event.

Attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet the creative team behind the new edition. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event for $25. Payment can be made via cash, personal check, or credit card (a standard card processing fee will apply). Additionally, monetary sponsors who generously contributed $200 or more toward the printing and production costs of the project are invited to pick up their complimentary copies during the open house.

The proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the Winfield Public Library and Winfield Historical Society to support their programs and services.

For community members unable to attend the launch, Winfield’s Good Old Days: A History (2nd Edition) will be available for purchase following the December 12th event at the following locations:
